Taking Action Is Sometimes The First Step

16th Feb 2014 | Leave a remark Taking motion is typically the first step by Taslim Tharani. It has been a couple of months since I wrote a blog submit. I haven’t been able to give you a ‘nice thought’ for a blog post. My mind tells me ‘Rob writes so properly, higher that he writes the blog’ or ‘others categorical things higher than me, why strive?’ or ‘I need to think of one thing superb, and till I think of one thing wonderful, I can’t write anything’ or ‘Something needs to emotionally transfer me, earlier than I can write about it’ â€" So â€" I procrastinate, and procrastinate and expertise increasingly nervousness about writing blog posts for TCP. This is the place values are available. My values underpinning writing weblog posts are: â€" Connection (with myself and with the readers) â€" Contribution (I want to make a distinction) â€" Self expression (I need to share me, the authentic me) What is not in right here as a price is ‘being good’ or ‘being better than other writers’ â€" it's merely about me connecting with the readers of TCP, contributing to each the enterprise and our readers, and a car for self expression. As you'll be able to see â€" my thoughts comes up with plenty of causes for not dwelling my values. It gets caught in a number of ways: 1) It compares my writing, ideas and talents, to others (in this case Rob’s). This comparison serves to de-worth me â€" make me ‘not okay’ somehow, or ‘not adequate’ Is it helpful? Not in any respect. Comparison usually places us in a ‘better than’ or ‘lower than’ place â€" and may cease us from truly discovering who we are â€" what our personal distinctive strengths are. So notice when you are comparing your self to others, and ask yourself ‘is this beneficial’? If it is â€" great! If it isn’t, what might be more useful, in this moment? What ‘action’ would possibly help you transfer towards what is important to YOU, your values? 2) It will get caught into the ‘if…then’ rule â€" that I can only take motion if a certa in variety of situations are met. This could be the case in a number of areas in our life. When I am extra flexible I will be part of a yoga class. When I even have found the right matter or idea for a blog submit, I will write a blog entry. Perhaps it is ‘action’ itself that ends in experiences that move us ahead, in direction of our values, in direction of a extra meaningful profession. If we wait till we now have the ‘excellent’ conditions â€" we is not going to take any motion, and keep caught . So, I determined to just begin writing â€" and this is what is flowing out. Maybe motion IS the first step? three) When I move nearer to my values â€" my mind provides me 100’s of causes of why moving in that course is not a good idea. If I take heed to my thoughts, I often ‘get caught’ â€" I go around and round in circles. Your mind provides you with so many explanation why a particular career is ‘impossible’ earlier than you even give your self an opportunity. We due to this fact discount so many options which may meet our criteria, earlier than we have even explored the choices. My mind gave me lots of reasons I shouldn’t be penning this right now â€" yet here I am, scripting this anyway, residing my values, regardless of all the explanations my thoughts tells me not to. What worth are you going to stay right now regardless of what your thoughts says? What ACTION are you keen to take today, to move you ahead? Taking action is sometimes the first step. When I sat down to write down this today, I didn't know what was going to come out, I did not have a clear concept or picture or vision for this weblog â€" I am not saying that having a imaginative and prescient isn’t essential â€" what I am saying is, sometimes taking action may help us discover our vision, our values, our needs, our wants.
